Celebrating Mets Players Abruptly Cut TV Interviews Short for a Team Picture

The New York Mets are headed to the National League Division Series for the first time since 2015 after beating the Milwaukee Brewers in three games in the wild-card round. Pete Alonso hit the go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth, and Francisco Lindor ended the game by connecting with the first baseman on a 6-3 double play.

That's why those two were prime postgame interview targets for ESPN and MLB Network. Lindor spoke with SportsCenter while Alonso went live with MLB Tonight. Both guys cut their interviews short so they could take a team picture.

When you gotta go, you gotta go. A postseason celebration waits for no one. Or in this case, no network.

As you can see in the Lindor clip, he had some words for his teammates before plopping down in front for the picture. After that, they moved to the visitor's clubhouse where the celebration continued.

The Mets have until Saturday to enjoy themselves. Then it's back to stress-inducing playoff baseball.

Taylor, Charlesworth, Shaw keep Gloucestershire revival on track

Essex remain winless after 13-run loss in seesawing contest at Chelmsford

ECB Reporters Network supported by Rothesay04-Jul-2025Jack Taylor’s second fifty in three matches made it three wins in a row for Gloucestershire to spark hopes of retaining the Men’s Vitality Blast.Gloucestershire had begun their defence with five straight defeats but victories over Kent Spitfires, Hampshire Hawks and now Essex have given hope they can sneak back to finals day via the back door.Captain Taylor had dragged his side to a par score of 184 with 50, to go with Ben Charlesworth’s 47 not out, before Josh Shaw’s three for 29 made sure the Eagles fell 13 runs short. The 2019 champions Essex remain winless, with their only points coming from a wash-out. They can now only get a maximum of 22 points with fourth placed Glamorgan already on 20 points. For the third home match in a row, Simon Harmer chose to bowl first but it was Gloucestershire who edged the powerplay. They managed 58 runs, par for the first six overs at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground, but lost Miles Hammond just about caught at slip by a juggling Paul Walter and Cam Bancroft attempting back-to-back sixes. But Essex demonstrably won the middle overs by holding the visitors to just four boundaries from the end of the seventh over to the start of the 16th.Darcy Short failing to kick on from reaching 33 and Ollie Price barbequing himself didn’t help their cause, but tight bowling closed off their scoring options.Taylor’s hard running dragged Gloucestershire back into the innings before his hard-hitting got them closer to a defendable score.Firstly, he took Matt Critchley for three fours in an over and then he carted Luc Benkenstein for two huge sixes – one of which smashed a press box window. It helped the Gloucestershire skipper reach his seventh T20 fifty in 34 balls.A wicket in each of the last three overs kept the away side to 184, with Mohammad Amir taking two of them to return three for 33, while Charlesworth’s useful 31-ball cameo left him unbeaten on 47.In the two previous games at Chelmsford, Essex had been set targets of 221 and 220 and it had quickly been apparent the chase would be above them.On this occasion, they stayed in the fight despite losing regular wickets. Michael Pepper and Jordan Cox each went big then got out in the powerplay, while Dean Elgar suffered a tortured nine balls in a half-hour spell in the middle.Paul Walter threatened to be the man to put Essex in complete control with a spritely 39 but he and Benkenstein fell in the same Charlesworth over leaving the hosts needing 82 in eight overs.Critchley and Charlie Allison clubbed 21 and 17 off the 14th and 15th overs, but then Critchley was bowled by Shaw as the momentum swung like a Newton’s cradle. But Harmer clothed to point, Allison holed out, Noah Thain picked on long on, and Amir was run out as the game fell out of Essex’s grasp as Gloucestershire squeezed at the death.

'I wasn't the problem' – Nemanja Matic blasts former side for 'broken promises' as ex-Man Utd & Chelsea midfielder says he 'deserved respect' after agreeing to reunite with Jose Mourinho

Nemanja Matic has opened up on his turbulent spell at Roma, accusing the club of breaking promises and lacking respect. The former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder revealed he felt “constantly on trial” despite committing to the Giallorossi for Jose Mourinho and the fans. Now at Sassuolo, Matic reflects on the decisions that shaped his recent two-year journey across Europe.

Matic lifts the lid on Roma frustrations

The Serbian international, now playing for Sassuolo, has candidly reflected on his single season at Roma in 2022-23. The midfielder, who joined Roma from Manchester United after five years at Old Trafford, claimed he was drawn to the capital club due to Mourinho and the promise of an ambitious project. Despite turning down longer offers elsewhere, Matic says Roma only offered him a one-year contract and subsequently failed to honour agreements regarding an automatic extension based on performance.

Advertisement(C)Getty Images'Constantly on trial' – the midfielder’s grievances

Speaking to , Matic expressed frustration with what he described as a lack of respect from Roma’s management after being lured to join the club by coach Jose Mourinho.

He said: "When I chose Roma and left Manchester United, I accepted a one-year contract even though I had other teams. When the offer came, I wasn't willing to accept because they'd only offered me a one-year contract. Then I spoke to Mourinho, and in the end I chose Roma for him and for the fans. They told me we'd sign a contract extension in January, but at that point, no one showed up.

"In my opinion, I played well at Roma. I was told I'd get an automatic renewal if I played at least 50 per cent of the games, but that wasn't the agreement we made the previous summer. I felt like I was constantly on trial, under scrutiny. I deserved respect. At that point, I spoke to the club, saying I'd give my all until the end of the season, but that at the end of the season we'd part ways.

"I wasn't the problem, but the people who had promised me things they didn't keep. I lacked stability, although I didn't lack the love of the fans, who respected me more than the club. Before today, I'd never wanted to talk about it, but three years later I can say it, also because the directors who were there then are no longer there. I don't want to say they were unfair, but I think I deserved more respect."

Matic's Roma record

Matic, now 37, ended up making 50 appearances for the Italian side. Despite starting all 13 of the Europa League matches for which he was available, he was in the starting XI just 16 times in Serie A, with a further 19 appearances coming as a substitute. He then left to join Rennes in France but ended up at Lyon a few months later. After a season-and-a-half with the French side, he moved back to Italy to join Sassuolo in a free transfer.

Matic says the flurry of short-term moves were influenced by family considerations and the desire for consistent playing time, adding: "I left Rennes because there wasn’t an international school for my children, and joined Lyon before moving to Sassuolo."

Now settled at Sassuolo, Matic continues to perform in Serie A at 37, demonstrating high professionalism despite past setbacks. He has started all of their matches since he joined and wore the captain's armband in the recent 1-0 win against Hellas Verona.

Mehidy to lead Bangladesh in West Indies ODIs, Shakib continues to miss out

Regular captain Shanto continues to miss out due to a groin strain

Mohammad Isam02-Dec-2024Mehidy Hasan Miraz will continue to lead Bangladesh in regular captain Najmul Hossain Shanto’s absence in the ODI series against West Indies. Mehidy was named captain for the ongoing two-Test series in the Caribbean, which the hosts are leading 1-0, with Shanto missing out due to groin strain. Shakib Al Hasan, who has not played for Bangladesh since the Tests in India, continues to miss out, with BCB president Faruque Ahmed saying the senior allrounder was not “in a mental state to play for the country”.Middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy also misses out due to a groin injury which he picked up while playing football recently. Mushfiqur Rahim also misses out as he recovers from finger injury, while Mustafizur Rahman has opted out of the series due to personal reasons. Left-handed opener Zakir Hasan, meanwhile, has been dropped. Litton Das, who missed the ODIs against Afghanistan in November, returns to the side, while Parvez Hossain Emon, Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan Sakib have also been included.Shakib, who retired from Tests and T20Is in September, missed the ODIs against Afghanistan last month too. He was part of the Abu Dhabi T10 where he played seven matches for Bangla Tigers. He had not traveled to Dhaka to play his farewell Test, against South Africa, in October because of protests against him after being named in an FIR for an alleged murder during the political unrest in the country.BCB president Ahmed said Shakib remained in contention for selection in ODIs, adding that he needed sufficient preparation to get back into the national side.”Right now, he [Shakib] is still in the list,” Ahmed said. “We hope that the issues get solved in the way he wants. Definitely, he still possesses the capability to play for the national team. Playing for a franchise and playing for the country is not the same thing. You need preparation and also you really need to gel with the team. Since he can’t do those things, I don’t think he is in a mental state to play for the country. Because of that, we have left this thing up to him.”The players named for the ODIs will leave Dhaka on Monday to link with the rest of the players in St Kitts to play the three ODIs on December 8, 10 and 12.Bangladesh ODI squad vs West IndiesMehidy Hasan Miraz (capt), Litton Das (wk), Tanzid Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Parvez Hossain, Mahmudullah, Jaker Ali, Afif Hossain, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan, Nahid Rana.

Man Utd ready to smash British transfer record to form unstoppable front three

Manchester United are in the hunt for new arrivals this window and could be set to make a statement on the market under Ruben Amorim with the competitive kick-off approaching, according to a report.

Fernandes demands Manchester United signings after Everton draw

Manchester United won the Premier League Summer Series after a 2-2 draw with Everton, but that didn’t stop Bruno Fernandes demanding that his side make new signings in a passionate post-match interview.

He stated: “It’s improving, but it’s not where we want it to be. It’s a game of football, there’s always passion there. Whatever happens, happens.”

Later, he added: “I don’t want to have a dig at anyone, but I think the club is doing the best they can in terms of all the financial situations they talk about. I don’t know about it, I’m not involved in that. But obviously, it was crystal clear we needed more competition for the players that were here.”

In light of some strong words from the Portuguese international, Manchester United intend to bid for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who has shot onto their radar as a key target following his exploits in Germany.

Raising funds will be important to ensuring there is an adequate budget available for Amorim to spend, and Alejandro Garnacho’s potential departure to Chelsea could place some vital financial capital into the coffers at Old Trafford.

Alejandro Garnacho.

With the new league season now less than two weeks away, there is still plenty of work for Manchester United to carry out as a new dawn comes into play, and they could now be set to up the ante on that front amid recent developments.

Man Utd look to assemble explosive front three with Vinicius Junior

After the arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, Manchester United are ‘preparing’ a bid for Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to make a ‘flagship’ signing during the early part of INEOS’s reign.

The Brazil international is out of contract in 2027 and is yet to pen an extension in the Spanish capital due demands to be placed alongside Kylian Mbappe in their wage structure. Now, reports in Spain reveal the Red Devils are ‘willing’ to make a ‘monumental proposal’ worth around £174m, which would eclipse the British transfer record by a wide margin.

INEOS want to ‘assemble an explosive offensive trio with Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha’, and Vinicius’ future has taken an ‘unexpected turn’.

Last season, the Brazilian superstar registered 22 goals and 19 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions. Still, he could now be set for a surprise new challenge with Florentino Pérez not willing to bring him to parity with Mbappe’s pay packet.

Financially, Manchester United would be stretched to put together a package worthy of tempting the world-renowned star to England, though Ratcliffe and company do seem like they are willing to put their best foot forward.

Man City prepared to offer £50m+ package to sign "complete" Real Madrid ace

Manchester City have enacted a sea change involving their squad this summer and Pep Guardiola could now be about to make a bold move for a Real Madrid ace.

Man City see plates spin in transfer market

The Citizens are known for their swift approach to negotiations and their speedy nature has led to the capture of Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg on a five-year deal.

Speaking after becoming Manchester City’s latest signing, the versatile 18-year-old stated: “I am incredibly happy and proud to have joined Manchester City. It’s a dream for any young footballer to become part of this club and to join such a group of world class talent.

Manchester City manager PepGuardiolabefore the match

“I am still very young with a lot to learn but the chance to be coached by Pep Guardiola, the best manager in the world, will only help me to become a better player.”

Nevertheless, legendary Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson could soon be set for Galatasaray after enduring a drop-off in performances last season and may potentially be joined by Ilkay Gundogan in the Turkish capital.

Acting to secure his replacement, contact has been made between the Citizens and Burnley over James Trafford, who could complete an unexpected return to the Eithad Stadium courtesy of a £40 million buyback clause included in his deal at Turf Moor.

Arsenal beat Man City and Liverpool to sign "highly-rated" forward after bid

Mikel Arteta is poised to win the race.

ByEmilio Galantini Jul 17, 2025

Newcastle United had long been thought of as the natural next destination for the England Under-21 international, though Manchester City mean business this window, and it doesn’t appear that they are likely to care about feathers ruffled along the way.

Having said that, recent noises do back up the notion that Guardiola is keen on a first-choice goalkeeper, but it may not be Trafford between the sticks after all come the start of competitive action.

Man City set to offer £50m+ package to land Andriy Lunin

According to reports in Spain, Manchester City would be willing to offer £52 million inclusive of add-ons for Andriy Lunin as the Ukraine international continues to be behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order at Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old would be open to a move given his situation and desire to play a ‘leading’ role elsewhere, but his current employers see him as an important asset for the future and wouldn’t let him depart without a fight.
